Taking time out from writing and demoing for the planned 2006 follow-up to
"The Grudge", MORTIIS spent Valentines Day, February 14 lovingly remastering the three early albums he calls "Era 1".

MORTIIS flew to Nottingham, England and upgraded the following three classic early-period releases at Rubber Biscuit Studios:

"Fodt Til A Herske"
"Crypt Of The Wizard"
"The Stargate"

All three releases are due for an April 2006 reissue campaign and come packaged in lavish collectors' slipcases with extensive expanded liner notes, including in-depth interviews with MORTIIS by Tommy Udo (Metal Hammer) about the making of each meisterwerk.

Norwegian industrial rock band, Mortiis, has been selected to perform on the 2005 Blackest of the Black Tour.

The Blackest of the Black line-up features Danzig (joined by former Misfit Doyle Von Frankenstein for a special 30-minute set of Misfits classics), Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, and The Agony Scene.

"I think it's a very interesting package and should draw a rather diverse crowd," said Mortiis' frontman and namesake. "I'm a big fan of pretty much everything Danzig ever put out, and always loved his classic horror approach to image and art. I can totally relate to that, given our own image isn't that far removed from what he did early on in The Misfits."

Mortiis' one and only tour of America was in 1999 with Christian Death."If anyone saw us then and comes to see us now, they're in for a bit of a shock," said Mortiis. "A lot has changed and everything that we used to be has been killed off to make way for a new monster."

Each of Mortiis' releases show a marked growth from its predecessor, with last year's "The Grudge" delving into an angrier, more guitar-driven sound. Mortiis is also now officially a collective effort from a full band.

Mortiis' first DVD, entitled "Soul in a Hole," will be released November 1. The DVD was filmed last year in London during the two-month "The Unlimited Grudge Tour" tour with Susperia. The DVD will contain four bonus videos, photo galleries, interviews, and other extras, in addition to live footage.

Hello to all... [16 Apr 2005|05:32pm]
taste_of_fate
Am new to the community. I've been a Mortiis fan for three-four years now. The band are great live, which brings me on to a few questions. I'm hoping to attend the Garage next Sunday and am wondering if anyone here has any idea how long the support bands may last? I have a rough idea from past experience, but am interested in others estimates. My reason for asking being that I have a bad back and cannot be out for very long. Therefore, I want to turn up in time to just see Mortiis and leave. No waiting around.
Glad to find the community. Take care :D

Norway's legendary eccentric artist MORTIIS recently finished filming a video for his upcoming single "Decadent & Desperate". "I think some of the things going on in there will be new to a lot of people, coming from us, and it was very new to me to, and I'm excited as well as a bit anxious about," Mortiis said in a statement. Check out stills from the video on the splash page to the group's official web site.

"Decadent & Desperate" will be released in April, to coincide with the group's U.K. tour, and will be made available in various formats. The single will contain the title cut, remixes made by Mortiis, and a brand new song titled "Underdog". "I'm really into those remixes — they're better than the last ones, I feel, and I also like the new song a lot — it's a bit different from the album, more direct and to-the-point somehow," Mortiis said.

In other news, MORTIIS are currently working on their first live DVD. "It was shot last year," the singer said. Iit was mixed when we did the single, and we're currently looking at what sort of bonus material we'll get to put in there, which is a bit down to the label really, but I'm hoping to get a lot of cool stuff in there, like older videos and so on."

MORTIIS' U.K. tour will kick off April 19 in Cardiff. Support at all dates will come from NFD (ex-FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM) and PANIC DHH. A complete list of currently confirmed tour dates can be found at this location.

New and curious. [09 Nov 2004|08:42pm]

I joined because i am a fan of mortiis. Some say he sold out but i am not too educated on the man or band them(him)selves. What is this controversial issue at which his reputation is put at an argument. I care not, as the music is the important factor, but i am curious.

This seemed like a very medieval-ish powermetal/alternativemetalindustrialness community, so i have taken interest to it, while i mostly listen to cruxshadows and the sisters of mercy.
